Transparency International: still much corruption in Tanzania

[December 5, 2014]
There has been a lot of transformation and development in Tanzania since its independence: there is a multi-party democracy and strong economic growth. The government took steps towards better governance and anti-corruption policies through the 'National Anti-Corruption Strategy' and the action plan that came with it.

Although the media and civil society have grown to be far more free and independent than they had been for decades, they are still subject to limitations imposed on them by the government. These limitations make it harder to fight corruption.

This way corruption remains a problem in Tanzania, both in the public and in the private sector. This corruption withholds much people to profit from the economic growth.
